THE SOURCE Do you consider the source of what you say or do? A dirty river may run for miles and gradually become clean but it can never be really pure. In the same way, vain and idle words are a product of a vain and idle heart. That which comes out of the heart, defiles the man (Matthew 15:18). The greatest challenge that we as Christians face today is that of urge behind closed doors. We claim to stop our bad habits without but within, the urge continues. We must lift up ...to God not only clean hands but a pure heart. The Bible tells us that the happiness of seeing Jesus is promised to those and those only who are pure in heart (Matthew 5:8). True Christianity lies in the heart, in the purity of the heart. Without the Holy Spirit destroying the root of sin in us, we are bound to be tormented by our desire to return to our bad habits. Pray that God would give you a heart that is pure because the heart of the matter is the matter of the heart
