THE STORY OF M Today was an M day. I picked her up and took her to Operation Love foodbank. When she came out of the apartment, all I could do was silently scream, You go girl! She was sporting a Bob Marley t-shirt and some cool fashion jeans! God love her little pea-pickin heart! LOL! And, as always, she was grinning from ear to ear. I love her spunk! While driving, she kept me entertained with some witty and delightful conversations. Arriving at the foodbank, she told me that I didnt have to stay with her. I can just call you when Im done to come get me. I was having no part of that! I let her know that I didnt mind in the least to wait with her and help her get her food. We stood outside in line waiting for it to open, and she continued her wonderful stories with a smile on her face and the occasional exuberant bout of laughter. Once inside, the wait was fairly short. They were running things quite quickly today. When it was Ms turn to get her food, I walked with her and carried the bags as they were filled with food. They had some pretty good stuff today, and M was thrilled at some of the things she got. She greeted every single staff member with a smile and made sure to thank them for their help. Her wonderful energy was so contagious! When I got her home, I carried the bags of food into the building for her and waited for her to unlock her apartment door. After a couple minutes of her struggling with the lock, she began to panic a little. For the first time, I witnessed her positivity and jubilance wane. (I think that I mentioned in the previous post about M that the building in which her apartment is in made me cringe a little. The building is old and in bad condition.) M told me that this wasnt the first time that she couldnt get in, and was certain that she would have to call the landlord and wait for him to come and break into the apartment for her. I suggested that perhaps I should try the lock before calling him. It took me several minutes before I could get the door unlocked, but I finally got it. I then told her that it was the landlords responsibility to fix that lock. She shouldnt have to worry about being locked out of her apartment and any given time. M proudly gave me a tour of her apartment and I was relieved to see that the condition of the outside of the building didnt fully continue into her apartment. As she gave me the tour, I made sure to scan for anything unsafe or in need of repair. Thankfully, everything APPEARED to be safe and in working condition. But, I did remind her to call her landlord about the lock before I left. We have decided to coordinate our foodbank schedules so that she will always have a ride and I can get my food at the same time. We talked for a few minutes after the tour and putting the food away, and her inner light returned. She made me promise to come over and just hang out every once in a while. How could I say no?!?! LOL! As I drove away, I couldnt help but smile. M is infectious! And I mean that in a good way, not a germy way! LOL! M is awesome!
