THE STORY OF PANTHER HOLLER In the mid 1800s a young pioneer couple settled in North Central Texas. It was late in the Fall and they didnt have time to build a cabin. There was a holler on the land they wanted to settle with a cave off to one side. The couple moved into the cave and built a rough wall and door across the mouth of the cave. Soon after they moved in twin babies were born. Some time later the weather was warming up and they left the door open. The husband was off hunting and the wife washing clothes close by. She heard the babies crying and run into the cave. Inside she saw a panther looking in the crib at her babies. She grab the butcher knife off the table and killed the panther. The place was know as Panther Holler from then on.
