THE STORY OF THE GIRL ON LAST NITES BEATLES SPECIAL Debbie was not looking for a man. She had been relocated from New York to LA by CBS productions and was perfectly happy with her UNMARRIED status. Now, here she was, seated at restaurant with a man she’d never met, named Paul Supnik, as a result of the coy MATCHMAKING of her flamboyant aunt who had allegedly left them to go to the ladies room. It was nearly an hour before Paul and Debbie noticed that Aunt Florence had never returned. Their conversation took them from one level to another, as if they had known each other all along. Paul asked where Debbie grew up. Bergen County, New Jersey, she replied, adding that her teenage years were consumed with AN INFATUATION FOR THE BEATLES. In a split second his mind reviewed a scene from years before: he was up late watching television⎯”The Johnny Carson Show”⎯the camera turned to an effervescent 13 year old girl identified as the Beatles Fan Club president. She said something funny⎯what was it?⎯oh yes, it made the audience laugh to hear her talk about the reaction of young kids to the Beatles, as if she, herself, were not also a young kid. Pauls mind returned to the present. I know you! Paul jumped. I SAW YOU on Johnny Carson! he exclaimed. By what REMARKABLE ODDS would Paul, recall a single segment of time on television from twenty years earlier when he was drawn to a particular young woman. Was this a spiritual nudge, planted deep into his memory bank, to press him toward his perfect mate? For Debbie and Paul it was a remarkable GODWINK OF AFFIRMATION. It signaled that their paths were destined to merge. AFTER ONLY TWO DATES⎯OVER THE NEXT TWO WEEKS⎯THEY WERE CERTAIN THAT THEY WERE SOUL MATES. They began planning the wedding. ••• With God there are NO ODDS.
