THE TRUE CURE TEXT: “Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.” (Matthew 17:21) The life of a true child of God is a life of daily battles. The good news, however, is that our Master Jesus Christ has already bruised the head of the Serpent (Genesis 3:14-15), the Devil. Jesus “spoiled principalities and powers…made a show of them openly” (Colossians 2:15). The implication is that all who repent of their sins and receive Jesus Christ as Lord and personal Saviour will acquire His power over all evil. In practice, however, we must wait upon the Lord in fasting and prayer to access the fullness of His Omnipotence in order to emerge victorious out of every battle of life. Regular fasting and prayer are therefore a spiritual remedy that guarantees success in both secular and spiritual endeavours. Those who would not fast and pray may only enjoy a measure of occasional victory. If you fail to pray as a young Christian you will become a prey in the hands of the devil.
