THE TRUE ESSENCE OF LENTEN OBSERVANCES Lent is not a period to weep for the pains of Christ, it is not a time to sympathize with Jesus, its not a season to wear long faces, dress awkwardly and look forsaken,it is not a-40 day period to starve oneself of food and water, certainly its not just a time in the calendar of the Church remind the faithful that Jesus once died for them. Lent is a time appraise and analyse our level of responsibility to the faith and commitment to the teachings and commandment of Christ. Christians must be taught to be matured; maturity is accepting responsibilities. so dont weep for Jesus and you that is already wailing stop! there is no cause for tears about Christs death. His death changed course of humanity from pain to pleasure, darkness to light, hopelessness to hopefulness, aimlessness to eternal purposefulness that can only be found in God and gave us life in exchange of our lot of death. can you see that the least God expect from us is to wail and mourn but to rejoice and be responsible to Him through a life of thanksgiving and unflinching commitment to doing His will. there4, cease to do the unnecessary in the name of lenten observances and think, talk, act and live the way God expect every of His children to: be the light and salt of the earth; be a co-redeemer; be the Christ others can see and imitate and live. Be responsible!!!
