THE TRUTH...ABOUTH THE HINDU -MUSLIM CLASH IN KASHMIR.......................................... Kichloo reveals how Kishtwar clashes started Monday, 12 Aug 2013 at 11:15 PM Share on facebookShare on twitterShare on emailShare on printMore Sharing Services 0 ‘BJP State Secy, PSOs led mob to Eidgah’ Faisul Yaseen Srinagar, Aug 12: Carrying a .303 rifle Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) State Secretary was leading a 15,000-men strong mob to Kishtwar Eidgah where 25,000 Muslims were offering Eid prayers, said Sajad Ahmad Kichloo, who stepped down from the Council of Ministry (CoM) on Monday. Talking to Rising Kashmir over phone, Kichloo said the BJP State Secretary was accompanied by his Personal Security Officers (PSOs) who opened fire in which one person was killed. “My uncle had passed away on August 3 and his Chahrum was observed on August 7. I stayed back home for the Eid, which was observed on August 9 and went to attend Eid prayers in the Eidgah,” he said about his presence at Kishtwar when it all started. Kichloo said when the mob was heading toward the Eidgah, the Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar informed him and expressed apprehensions that he might be the target. “As soon as I came out the gate of the Eidgah, the mob attacked our vehicles,” he said. Kichloo said the situation would have been worse had he not given restraining orders to the authorities as 25,000 Muslims were pitched up against 15,000 Hindus. “The intensity among the mob and the members of the Muslims community present in the Eidgah for the Eid prayers was high,” he said. “But for my restraining orders and the efforts of the police and paramilitary forces, more than 400 people would have been killed.” Kichloo said had he and his family been communal, as was accused by the rightwing BJP, RSS and Bajrang Dal, then they would not have had a grip on the Kishtwar assembly constituency since long. Kichloo’s family has a history of being in Kashmir politics for the past 60 years and the family has retained Kishtwar assembly constituency since 1977. His father also played a role in State politics being a minister for 27 years. “I was being blamed for the communal clashes and it became an issue in the Parliament. The issue was discussed right from Jammu to Godhra,” he said. “I resigned and proved that I am not a cabinet minister in Narendra Modi government.” Kichloo had called for a judicial probe in the clashes. He said his restraining orders stopped large casualties and proved his secular character. “Even when Gool was burning, I pacified the tempers of the people there and some people did not like that,” he said.
