THE ULTIMATE PURPOSE “...God meant it unto good …” Genesis 50:20 We can never fully understand why some things are the way they are. How on earth can we explain why some things are very good, favourable and pleasant, while others are unpleasant, bitter, and bad? In this life, there are many questions for which we may not find satisfactory answers. But there is an ultimate purpose “and we know that all things work together for good …” (Rom 8:28). Yes, the dark nights are there for a purpose, just as the hot afternoons are there for a purpose. Also, the misrepresentation and persecutions are allowed for a purpose. Are you perplexed because most people around you seem not to understand and appreciate your life? It is for a purpose. Do you face regular criticisms from your peers and parents, even for good conduct? It is for a purpose. Does it seem that you are lonely in this world? Have you tried your best yet it appears things have not worked out exactly the way you desired them? It is for a purpose. Have you faced a challenging situation not caused by you but for which you are being held responsible? It is for a purpose. There is a reason for all these experiences. The reason lies with God. He means it for your good. Therefore, do not fret or become dejected when things are not favourable to you. Remember, “the God of all grace...after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you (1Pet 5:10)
