THE ULTIMATUM GIVEN TO PRESIDENT JONATHAN BY NEF: MORE LIKE CAMPAIGN AFTER ELECTION. Security of lives and properties is the number one priority for any meaningful administration anywhere in the world, failure to ensure the security of lives and properties of the citizenry is a total failure no matter the level of whatever development any administration can put in place. It is quite unfortunate that, for successive years now, Nigeria as a country have continue to witness one kind of insecurity or the other, notably among which is the issue of Boko Haram that bedeviled not only the northern region in particular but the entire nation in general. Historically, many countries have succeeded in overcoming similar situations they passed through, but never with politicization or without unity and cooperation between and among all the people from each and every angle, religious beliefs, region, political party or social strata. Our major problems here in Nigeria are corruption and total/complete politicization of the state of insecurity in the nation. Instead of working together in unity and cooperation as to overcome the ugly situation, we keep on pointing fingers and accusing one another while the killings continue. In as much as we are not ready to discontinue with the using of the state of insecurity in Nigeria to score a political point, be rest assured that the situation will persist for a long period of time. The ultimatum given by Northern Elders Forum to president Jonathan to either bring back the lost Chibok girls or forget about 2015 reelection is not a welcome development, in my own opinion, at this very time. Why Chibok girls? What about the killings in Kano where more than 400 peoples lost their lives? The burning, in Potiskum International Cattle Market, of lives and properties? The Baga massacre? The likes of Bama and Izge bombardments? The shootings, in their hostels, of students in Gujba and Buni Yadi? The recent taking over of Damboa and Gwoza? Etc, etc; where were they? I am tired of Chibok girls not because I have no concern but because of the politicization of the missing girls. If at all there is any ultimatum given by NEF to president Jonathan prior to the abduction of Chibok girls kindly assist me with the details please. In abduction there is every hope that those abducted will be back, but what ultimatum you gave when quite a greater number were innocently killed? Why not calling on the FG to provide all the necessary support and equipment for our military to dealt with the situation, as they remain but capable of doing it with the right commitment of the FG. Ask for the immediate relocation of the Chief of Army Staff to Borno to arrest the situation within the shortest possible time. Try in putting heads together in Borno towards a peaceful state and not what is obtainable presently in the states political terrain. Sometimes politics is killing us!
