THE UNION ENGAGES THE MINISTER OF GENDER This week the ZNFU Board met with the Minister of Gender, Hon Inonge Wina M.P. to further deliberations on ZNFU activities for women farmers and to exchange ideas on the performance of the agricultural sector and the challenges farmers are facing. On the challenges that farmers face, the Minister pledged to be supportive as government deliberates on various policies so that the costs of production farmers face are reduced and to maintain policy consistency underlining that this is important because agriculture is the cornerstone of the PF government’s source of economic growth. The Minister also threw a challenge to agribusiness companies to consider empowering women by appointing enterprises run by women as agents or distributors of agro inputs such as chemicals and to help government in identifying women who have excelled in communities for recognition.
