THE UPCOMING WEEK AT TORY HILL WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 21 @ 3:00 PM – At our August 4th Congregational Meeting the congregation voted to sell the parsonage. The tenants have moved on, and this coming Wednesday afternoon we need a crew of folks to help remove bulk debris from the house. The parsonage is located at 20 Old Orchard Road. Come help if you can! WORSHIP, SUNDAY, AUGUST 18, 2013 Thought for the day: "The Sabbath is a weekly cathedral raised up in my dining room, in my family, in my heart." -Anita Diamant Music: We may have a very special treat in store for us at our Anthem time this week. Scripture: Luke 13:10-17 – The story of Jesus healing a crippled woman on the Sabbath and being criticized by the indignant leader of the synagogue for breaking the Sabbath rule against work. Children’s Time: “Jesus’ Hands Were Kind Hands” Sermon: “Jesus: Breaking the Sabbath Commandment” - How we love these stories of Jesus where he defies the straight-laced scribes and Pharisees! Do we sometimes let the “rules” trump compassion? What does Jesus ask of us as we hear this familiar tale? LAST SUNDAY: We worshiped in the breath-catching beauty of Pleasant Point Park. It is our custom to offer readings and lots of silence to soak in the Spirit of the place, so there is no posted sermon for August 11th.
