THE US ECONOMY... THE STORY The US economy is back, baby. WHAT DO YOU MEAN? Tuesday, we found out that last quarter’s GDP was the strongest it’s been in more than a decade. Insert clapping here. The job market’s looking better, gas is cheaper, and businesses and consumers are cracking open their wallets. Meaning, five years after the financial crisis, the economy is finally hitting its stride. Yesterday, the Dow got so excited it broke 18,000 for the first time ever. IS THERE A ‘BUT’…? …the US didn’t have anyone to call and tell the good news. The Eurozone’s economy can’t get off the couch. Brazil’s got the flu. China’s trying to hold it together. Russia’s headed toward a recession, and Japan’s already got one. SO? What does history tell us is next when our economy is booming and everyone elses is tanking? LET THE PROGNOSTICATIONS COMMENCE...
