THE VIEW FROM THE GROUND The Prime Minister has announced defiently there will be little or no development in the North because they voted for Sodelpa. I am now returning from a one day trip to savusavu and labasa for two reasons. First to arrange for my first constituency meeting and on that I told my manager I want to visit all 80 villages that I visited in my campaign. Second, to attend with a client NGO to some landowners that have agreed to work in partnership with the NGO to take a title over their whole land to develop themselves in a manner that is sustainable and friendly to the environment. One feature in the partnership is to pay compensation for not cutting the trees and then assist in environmental friendly and sustainable projects like ecotourism using the landowners resource: land. This NGO has paid $200,000.00 into my trust account for partnership with these particular landowners. For the planning stage we are looking to the Israeli consular for an expert in the kibbutz system because the idea is to maintain cultural lifestyle while producing economically. This is a pilot project to expand if successful. At savusavu the first person I met said he follows the fntc facebook page daily. The same comment was made to me at labasa. Pity I thougt because it is very limited while the government propaganda machine, radio fiji has wide coverage. The sodelpa supporters stand is defient to say the least.And so in my constituency visit I plan to attend with agencies that can advise them on how to be resourceful with what they have given the government stand on the north. Im thinking trainers in beekeeping, virgin oil production and then maybe ask Nehemiah Corporation to arrange marketing.
