THE WAILING SOUL’S LAMENT She is the epitome of a mother who cries out for justice, a wailing soul who longs and begs for the love and affection of her own children expected to be on her side now at the most crucial point of her life; depressed, helpless and suffering in silence in an excruciating pain in need of urgent medical attention but no one has the means to provide her aid. And if ever there is someone willing to spend for her needs, medical or otherwise; the same is forestalled by the fear of being unpaid, not for the reason of unwillingness to help, but for the compelling reason of restriction by his own personal financial obligations in life, as well. There appears no trust anymore, sadly however, at the expense of her health condition. “Ang hindi lumingon sa pinanggalingan, ay hindi makararating sa paroroonan.” [He who refuses to look back where he’s been, will never reach where he’s going.] A proverbial saying in Tagalog that instills the value of gratitude in every human heart. Is this frustrated mother stinking herself to her final days or what? No one seems to care anymore… If her children themselves refuse to extend help nor show concern at this critical moment she needed them most, who else will do so? The Good Samaritan is nowhere to be found. When everything rests on the hands of God, who are we to say that those primarily concerned will not suffer exactly the same thing as what they did to their mother from their very own children themselves? It’s scary and quite frightening… but it is written, we will reap what we sow. Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. [Galatians6:7-8] RES IPSA LOQUITUR… Pictures don’t tell tales of lie, they show stark, vivid, candid and glaring reality. They tell the shocking and stinking truth! “Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. [John 8:32] The Way, the Truth, and the Life 5Thomas said to Him, Lord, we do not know where You are going, how do we know the way? 6Jesus said to him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me. 7If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; from now on you know Him, and have seen Him.… [John 14:5-7] The “curse” of a spurned and scorned mother and her unrequited love will forever haunt her numb and ungrateful children mimicking an unforgiving and unrelenting shadow of misfortune, tragedy, discomfort and unspeakable suffering extending in every generation and generations to come, including not only children of their own, but also their children’s children to the fullest extent of every known descendant. To suffer the burden of such stinking “curse!” A bitter taste of a decadent culture that disowns the onerous burden of concern and responsibility, contrary to the core of Filipino values and culture. At this instance, exemplified in the abandonment of an ageing and sickly mother who has lost her worth, value and usefulness; hence, deserving to be thrown far and away like a worn out rag. This is incontrovertibly shocking to the conscience of man! The bible tells us how Jesus curse the Fig tree because it bears no fruit. “Early in the morning, as he was on his way back to the city, he was hungry. Seeing a fig tree by the road, he went up to it but found nothing on it except leaves. Then he said to it, May you never bear fruit again! Immediately the tree withered.” [Matthew 21:18-22] Consigned to oblivion, will this lonely mother ever be relieved of her worries, anxiety and agonozining pain? Or will she breathe her last breath, forlorn, forsaken and forgotten… Over time each significant piece of the puzzle has fallen into its rightful place and unfolded the naked truth and the true picture behind all of these, that this forlorn mother was sent here apparently and for the cogent reason she is an excess, worthless and unwanted baggage in life, so to speak. What a way to relieve those principally concerned of the burden to care, to feed, and to comfort her; needless to say, get rid of her for good like a dying destitute! A classic example of decadent culture bereft of human dignity. The Bible speaks, “Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God has commanded you, so that you may live long and that it may go well with you in the land the LORD your God is giving you.”[Deuteronomy 5:16] No one knows, considering nobody knows for sure, except God Himself when divine justice will take its due course and surely “it will come like a thief in the night,” to snatch everyone by surprise. For it is written, Vengeance is mine, says the Lord. “Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for Gods wrath, for it is written: It is mine to avenge; I will repay, says the Lord. [Romans 12:19]
