THE WAY WE WERE OVER 40 YEARS AGO IN CITY HIGH BCHS Class 73 - TopicsExpress

THE WAY WE WERE OVER 40 YEARS AGO IN CITY HIGH BCHS Class 73 comprised of about 20 sections. Sections 1 to 4 were regarded as the creme of the crop. No offensement for the lower sections please. I am just stating the facts and I hope the readers would understand. Besides, I was in Section 9 during my first year in City High. We knew each other. How can we not? We have been together for 4 long years. We brushed elbows in the corridors, inside classrooms, we played together in the athletic bowl, we had our crushes and clashes, puppy loves, we had our own joys, our own troubles, and we had a lot of memories left behind. Sad to say, we were not one. We were fragmented. We were factionalized! We met along the halfways, but we never said Hi or Hello to each other. We were like fishes surviving in a small river. Swimming along, side by side, or swimming the opposite direction in that small river for 4 long years, yet we did not have that opportunity to know each other more, While we may not be friends, we were never adversaries either. Understandably, we were just kids. We were unable to foresee that years after we sang Sunrise, Sunset. there is this feeling of wanting to meet not only old friends, but the whole members of Class 73. By writing bits and pieces of the moments with my own group on this wall, I earnestly hope that I will be able to entice other members of Class 73 to share with us their own moments with their respective groups. Absolutely, we are interested to know about your gigs when we were swimming in that same river. We played money on anything. Whether in basketball or by the plate numbers of incoming vehicles. We used the last digit of the plate numbers of vehicles in playing Lucky 9 or the summation of the 3 digits. We were not paying attention in class because we were playing Lucky 9 using the textbook in lieu of playing cards. John Hiquiana and Jose Garcia were very good at this. Or, we would be playing Lucky 9 or pusoy behind the grandstand. That place is enclosed with CHB wall and nobody could see us unless one would get inside that enclosure. Alex Paet Jr. was always the bank and rob us our money except that after we are done, Alex Paet would discretely return my money. One afternoon, while we were playing cards in that same place, Alex and John had a heated argument and the rest of the gang taunted the two to settle it thru a boxing bout. Raul Yaranon was the promoter. He taunted John, Sige man ngarud no natured ka, kalbitem man jay lapayag na and John did just that. And Alex wrestled him right away. They never liked each other although they were neighbors in Camp 6. Racquel Dacquel was also their neighbor. I am not so sure though if Racquel or Rachelle. but she was also a member of Class 73. John was on the upperhand but we wanted Alex to beat the hell out of John. So when Alex was losing the fight, everybody started beating John. Raul Yaranon could not stop giggling and was hiding behind me. Ha, ha, ha That enclosure behind the grandstand is very memorable to us. Actually, it was the lovers den of a pretty Chinese girl and her baduy boyfriend. Almost everyday, the two would make love and we would be watching them peeping through the small holes of the wooden wall of the Grandstand. It was Gil Antonios turn to peep and while he was enjoying it, somebody shouted, Hoy Miss hinahanap ka ng nanay mo. Uwi ka na daw at maghugas ka pa ng plato The two lovers did not know what to do. They hastily sped away and Gil Antonio was so pissed. I think it was Patricio Malicdem who shouted. Ha, ha, ha.. That was the last time we saw those two. To be continued maybe....
