THE WISDOM OFLETTING GO When someone give up or let go what he is pursuing, many will see it as a ‘weakness’. In pursuing our life journey and life goal, there is a lot of ‘trials and errors’. If someone had moved into a wrong direction, he should be quick enough to ‘give up’ and change to a new direction. The following highlights some of these situations: • If you purchase a wrong ‘stock/share’ from the Stock Exchange Market, you should try to sell it (let go) as soon as possible. A good financial analyst knows how to ‘cut loss’. • If an entrepreneur enters into a wrong new business, he should try to ‘divest’ (let go) as soon as possible. A good investor/entrepreneur knows how to ‘minimize loss’. • If a person studies a wrong course, he should try to ‘withdraw’ (let go) from the course and enroll a different course to study. In the longer term, you will have more job satisfaction. • If a person joins a wrong company to work, he should try to ‘change’ job (let go) by looking for another job. This is called ‘career path’- makes sure you are on the right path. • If a person marries the wrong person, he should get a ‘divorce’ (let go) and pursue a new relationship. In fact, you gain more in the longer term. While determination, perseverance, persistency and ‘never says die’ are important attributes of a successful person, knowing when to ‘give up’ or ‘let go’ can also be wise. In life, there is a lot of ‘trials and errors’ and thus we may from time to time make a wrong choice and thus it is alright to change it. By ‘giving up or letting go’, you are not a loser but rather learning how to ‘admit’ that you had made a wrong choice or to ‘accept’ your own weaknesses. Many of us are not born ‘wise’ but learn to be ‘wise’. A wise person knows when to persist and when to give up Roots of Wisdom by sheh
