THE WORD AND THE SPIRIT THEREIN WHAT ARE WORDS? Simply put, - TopicsExpress

THE WORD AND THE SPIRIT THEREIN WHAT ARE WORDS? Simply put, theyre no more than symbols to represent things, feelings, plans and characters. But they are not what they represent and may mean differently to different people. Funny, there are words which sound the same but which meanings are completely opposed. Among the Jews, the name YAWEH means God, but in the Visayas in Northern Philippines, YAWA is the name of the devil. The English word LIMIT implies a boundary or restriction on things we can do. But in the Filipino language, LIMIT means frequent and as such, unlimited. Languages and words are important communication tools, but since they are not really what they represent, they often cause misinformation or disinformation. For which reason, statement from anyone can be taken out of its true context. In written communication, a single lapse in spelling can be disastrous. Take this excerpt from a printed news: The president of the Philippine Chinese Chamber Commerce angrily claimed he was MOSQUITOED in his statement..... The right word was MISQUOTED. For the spoken or written words to be precise in conveying messages, there has got to be a spirit in them. A person who weaves lies can easily be spotted by one gifted with discernment because the spirit in the word is out. Sometimes, people who are deaf and mute are gifted with a better sense of understanding and ability to convey, the reason being - they rely on the spirit rather than the words.
