THE WORD OF GOD IS THE BREAD OF LIFE ...... Jesus said to them: I am the bread of life; that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst ... He that believeth on me hath everlasting life. I am the bread of life. - John 6:35, 47-48. After declaring that he is the bread of life, Jesus says: Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life (John 6:54). This figurative language means that he who appropriates the results of Christs death on the cross has a new relationship with God is indeed his son for eternity. Then, the believer must feed on the Word of God to know his thoughts and taste his love. Jesus said, The words that I speak to you are spirit and life). Food maintains our body and rejuvenate; Jesus words and nourish our spirit himself. He communicates his life and gradually transforms us into His image (2 Corinthians 3:18). May we say with the prophet Jeremiah: Thou Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of my heart). ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ The Eucharist (Mithraism) is not biblical. Matthew 15:17 ► Do you not understand that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and then deleted? Matthew 15:17 Do not they realize that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and then out into the draft? John 6:63 ► It is the Spirit who gives life; LA flesh profits nothing; the words that I speak unto you are spirit and life. HOW YOU CAN TEACH THE SPIRIT? 1 Corinthians 6:13 Food for the stomach and the stomach for foods, but God will destroy them both. However, the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord, and the Lord is for the body. In the book of Malachi, the prophet predicts the elimination of the old sacrificial system and the institution of a new sacrifice: ... I have no pleasure in you, saith the Lord of hosts, neither will I accept an offering at your hand. For from the rising of the sun to the going down, my name is great among the nations; and everywhere my name and a pure offering incense is offered, because my name is great among the nations, says the Lord of hosts (Malachi 1: 10-11).. This means that God is a glorified among the Gentiles, who will make pure offerings to Him everywhere day. Catholics see this as the Eucharist. However, Paul seems to have a different approach to it:. So, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as living, holy, acceptable sacrifice to God, which is your reasonable service ( Romans 12: 1). The Eucharist can only be offered in special places: churches consecrated and blessed according to the Law Canóniga Catholic The idea of offering our bodies as living sacrifices fits perfectly with the language of prophecy, which says that the sacrifices will be offered in every place. And not just in buildings called churches The Roman Catholic believes that the bread and wine of the Eucharist become the actual body and blood of Jesus. They try to support their doctrine with passages such as John 6: 32-58; Matthew 26:26; Luke 22: 17-23; and 1 Corinthians 11: 24-25. In 1551 AD, the Council of Trent officially stated that: By the consecration of bread and wine; a change of the whole substance of the bread into the substance of the body of Christ our Lord and the whole substance of the wine into the substance of his blood. This change has put the Catholic and properly called transubstantiation (Session XII, Chapter IV; canon II). Sharing the Eucharistic meal, the Catholic teaches that Catholics are fulfilling what was said in John 6:53, Verily, verily, I say unto you; If you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. What does it really mean? Jesus goes on to say that It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing; the words that I speak unto you are spirit and life (John 6: 63-64).. So if the flesh profits nothing. Why we should eat the flesh of Jesus to have eternal life? It makes no sense, until Jesus tells us that the words He speaks are spirit. Jesus is saying that this is not a literal teaching, but a spiritual one. The language fits perfectly with this declaration of the apostle Paul: ..that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. (Romans 12: 1) In Jewish belief, the bread was compared to the Torah, and eat meant to read and understand Gods covenants (Deuteronomy 8: 3) For example, the apocryphal book of Sirach says: He who eats me will still be hungry, the thirsty will drink my more, who obey me not be ashamed, those who may never fall. All this is true of the book of the covenant of the Most High, the law which Moses commanded us as an inheritance for the community of Jacob (Sira 24: 20-22) What this quote from the book of Sira is not guaranteed as Scripture; only serves to illustrate how the Jewish people thought about the Mosaic Law. It is important to understand the comparison of bread with Thora to appreciate the real point of Jesus. In John 6, Jesus is really telling the crowd that he is superior to the Torah (John 6: 49-51), and the entire system of the Mosaic Law. In the passage of Sira, states that those who eat of the Act will still hungry and thirsty for more, language that is reflected by Jesus when He says I am the bread of life; that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. (John 6:35). Jesus you are ordering people literally eat His flesh and drink His blood, He is telling them what is the heart of all Christian doctrine; believe in Jesus Himself ... This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent (John 6:29). Therefore, the Catholic interpretation of John 6 is not biblical. Second, there is a clear analogy in John 6 to the days of Moses and the food manna. In the days of Moses, the manna was given as Gods provision for food of the Israelites as they wandered in the desert. In John 6, however, Jesus claims to be the true manna, the bread of heaven. With this statement Jesus claims to be the full provision of God for salvation. Manna was Gods provision for the removal of starvation. Jesus is Gods provision for the removal of condemnation. Just as the manna had to be consumed to preserve the life of the Israelites, so Jesus had to be consumed (fully received by faith) that salvation was received. It is very clear that Jesus referred to Himself as the Bread of Life and encouraged his followers to eat His flesh in John 6 But we need not conclude that Jesus was teaching what Catholics have referred to as transubstantiation. The Lords Supper / Christian Communion / Holy Eucharist had not been instituted. Jesus instituted the Eucharist / Mass / the Lords Supper until John chapter 13. Therefore, reading the Lords Supper in John 6 is unwarranted. As suggested above, it is best to understand this passage in light of coming to Jesus in faith for salvation. When we receive Him as Savior and put our trust in Him, we are eating His flesh and drinking His blood - His body was broken (in his death) and His blood was shed to provide our salvation. 1 Corinthians 11:26, So every time you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lords death until He comes. Whether the Catholic definition of Holy Eucharist is a re-sacrifice of Christ, or re-gift of Christs sacrifice - both concepts are unbiblical. Christ does not need to be re-sacrificed. The sacrifice of Christ need not be re-offered. Hebrews 7:27 states, He (Jesus) does not need daily, as those high priests, to offer sacrifices for his own sins, and then for the people; for this he did once, when he offered himself. 1 Peter 3:28 says, For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God .... Christs death once on the cross was sufficient to atone for all our sins (1 John 2: 2). Therefore, Christs sacrifice need not be re-offered. Instead, the sacrifice of Christ must be received by faith (John 1:12, 3:16). Eating Christs flesh and drinking His blood are symbols of all hosting His sacrifice on our behalf, by grace through faith. Once again ............. The Eucharist (Mithraism) is not biblical. Matthew 15:17 ► Do you not understand that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and then deleted? Matthew 15:17 Do not they realize that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and then out into the draft? HOW YOU CAN TEACH THE SPIRIT? 1 Corinthians 6:13 Food for the stomach and the stomach for foods, but God will destroy them both.
