THE WORLD MUST FIGHT IVORYPOACHING During his visit last week to Cameroon, French ecologist Nicolas Hulot said that rampant killing of the region’s forest elephant would annihilate the species in the next 10 to 20 years. Speaking as a special envoy for French president Francois Hollande, he told Cameroon authorities, "We need to put up some diplomacy and dialogue with Asian countries that import most of the elephant tusks." Afterwards, Hulot told reporters, "Poaching of elephants is not only a regional problem. It is necessary to identify ways by which we can assist the countries concern in the fight."
