THEME: WHATS TOO MUCH FOR YOUR MASTER? Reading: Matt 26:8 But when his disciples saw it, they had indignation, saying, To what purpose is this waste? I was talking to a certain politician sometimes back and he couldnt understand that I had used my parents money, gone through all levels of education, studied to become an engineer, only to waste it on becoming a preacher ... Something I hadnt even studied for!! To what purpose is this waste?? So many people cannot understand when you decide to support a ministry (like mine Heheheeeee), in monthly contributions. People will not understand when you decide to give your expensive car as an offering! People will not understand when you decide to sacrifice your Isaac, the only son you got when all hope was lost, to God! They will say, what a waste!! When Mary decided to pour her most expensive perfume in Jesus and wash His feet with her hair (Matt 26:6), even the disciples were hurt and they said, to what purpose is this waste?! Judas even suggested another better option of selling the perfume and giving the money to the poor! How many times have we thought that giving to a msn of God a certain amount is giving him (and by extension God, because he represents God) too much??! How many times have you seen a person giving extravagantly to God and thought he or she is giving God too much. No ... How many times has a friend come to you to tell you that he or she wants to sacrifice his/her Isaac and gave them a better option???!!! No ... How many times has your spirit suggested you sacrifice an Isaac, but your mind overwhelmingly voted for a better option! How many times have you thought that so and so is wasting himself serving God full-time, with all that so education? How many times have you yourself asked yourself, Am I wasting?? Giving to God (His servants) a thousand looks like too much, but shopping with a thousand is a joke! Giving God a whole day of worship looks like a waste, but chatting with friends and visiting them for a whole weekend is not even enough! Reading the bible or such texts as these I send to the end is tiresome and boring, but reading some funny texts, novels and papers is very exciting! You know why? 1. Value: whatever you value more, you give to it more. If you valued God, youd wish all your children were His servants; but now that you value Him less, you think one of your children choosing to serve him after educating him is a waste! 2. Lack of knowledge: if only you knew who God really is, youd not fear giving anything to him. Youd want to always be in His presence, youd always want Him as your friend and nothing less. That would make everything He says, worth listening, anything written of Him worth reading, anything known of him, worth talking about, everything commanded by Him, worth doing! 3. Priorities: Jesus said, the heart of a man, is always where his wealth is. Those who have their treasures in heaven, their hearts are in heaven, those whos all they have is here, in their education, children, properties, etc, their hearts are also here! My dear, great sacrifices like Isaac ... Like breaking your alabaster of precious perfume on the Lords body (please remember the church is the body of Christ), are done in silence! Dont even tell your spouse!! If the Lord tells you, support this servant or this ministry or this family in this way, monthly, annually, or a one of sacrifice, just do it! Imagine this, Abraham had left his home to follow God, but it was not until he sacrificed Isaac that God said, Now I know... What?? God, are you joking?? This guy has been following you!! How come you never knew!!??!! We struggle to know all the names of the disciples of Jesus (or my dear can you name all the disciples of Jesus without referring?? If yes, wow! You must be a genius like me!), but Jesus said, wherever the gospel shall be preached, the name of Mary (who broke her alabaster) must be mentioned!! What a privilege!! She was the only one who got the opportunity to balm Jesus body! Mary Magdalene tried to go Sunday morning after crucifixion but she was already too late!! Jesus had long risen from the dead! They say what a waste?!! I say what a privilege!! Now, to you. What is that that is too much you cant give to God? A certain man I know was a very faithful church-goer; actually an elder of a church I know. He was a contractor. After the pastor prayed for him, he got a contract of ten million Kenya shillings. The pastor who prayed for him was a struggling pastor (meaning, he was not well financially). This contractor said, in kikuyu dialect, if I give this poor pastor one million as tithe, he will just go crazy. I will therefore not give him, instead, Ill keep the money for him and give it to him in small portions, may be every Sunday. That is how the contractor got crazy, he is repeating those words to date. He thought the pastor would go crazy... No, in other words, he thought God could not handle that much money; he himself went crazy lost the contract due to state of mind and the company. Giving to God is not a waste! However much you give to God, you can never out-give him! How much did it cost to die on the cross for you, to begin with?? If a person (not Jesus) died on your behalf willingly and then somehow came back to life again, how much would you pay him for accepting to die on your behalf?? Thanks for reading the long texts. You can always get DVDs video sermons of the following sermons in support of my ministry. By for yourself, buy for a friend, buy for an enemy. The following themes are available: 1. Praying like a son. 2. Strange lands 3. How you hear 4. Being immortalized 5. The power of confession Among others. Shalom and keep the faith. Facebook/pastornesh
