THEME: WHY THE OLD MUST GO Reading: Matthew 9:17 Neither do men put new wine into old bottles: else the bottles break, and the wine runneth out, and the bottles perish: but they put new wine into new bottles, and both are preserved. It is true! The call is, Come as you are!!, but the command is not, And stay as you were! After you have, come as you are to Christ, you need to no longer conform to the patterns of this world, but to be transformed by the RENEWING of your mind! Why RENEW? Because you cannot put NEW WINE in an old bottle. Else the bottle will break under pressure and you will loose the wine and the bottle! Therefore after you have come as you are, Jesus then says, Behold the OLD is gone and the NEW has come! After you are renewed, then you are worthy to house the NEW WINE. It will not break you and neither the bottle nor the wine shall be lost. Thats why if you came in as a quiet person, God makes you a noise-maker, if you came in as a noise-maker, God makes you an even better noise-maker. He makes sure Hes putting the wine in a new vessel! When you meet with this God, something MUST CHANGE! If it never changed, then you met a fake. Look for the genuine one. Peter was silent, withdrawn, argumentative, doubting, etc. He met this God ... All that changed. Paul was a murderer, a terrorist, religious, etc. He met this God, all that changed! Moses stammered, this God made him a god to Pharaoh and made Aaron his prophet. Imagine God making you a god and even making someone your prophet. Coooool! Isnt it? Sarai met this God, her name was changed to Sarah ... She was barren, Isaac finally came. I mean to say, if God will do anything significant with you, something must change first. Because new wine in an old bottle only serves to break the bottle. If you dont change, your destiny will only serve to destroy you. This is the reason why some pray for a river, but drown in a stream! Some pray for much, yet little destroys them. Are you praying for anything? Then renewal is a great part of receiving it. Like they say, failing to prepare is preparing to fail. Success is not in succeeding but in succession. Jesus said, It is better for you that I go. Jesus understood that the old has to go for the new to manifest. He knew that His success would not be based on the success He got, but in how good He was succeeded. You are not successful if by any chance you died today, nobody would succeed you. Success is not in being great, success is when the old has the new, ready to take in new wine. The old must go for the new to manifest. One thing the old has to keep in mind is that, new wine will not be put in it! God will never do that, it will translate into loosing the old wine-skin. If there is something new that God is going to do in your ministry, God will put it in a new wine-skin. I know the old-wine-skins will want to kill me for this, but it is the bitter truth. The old-wine-skin will have to agree to be renewed, by the renewing of its mind, or God will have to put the new wine into an entirely new wine-skin.
