THERE IS A MORE EXCELLENT WAY. Tuesday, 3rd September 2013 God doesn’t measure us by our gifts, talents and skills; it is people who do that. They give us honourary degree or reward us by an award based on our gifts or talents. But God measures us by our love for Him and love for others! Sadly, I’ve known and seen some gifted professionals, practitioners and presidents whom God has put in position, by His grace, for the sake of the people but shun the peoples’ needs and building names for themselves. My friend, are you one of them? I have met some gifted ministers whom God used to work miracles or deliver riveting sermons, but as I got closer to them and know them better, it was disappointing. They loved crowds, but they didn’t seem to love people. They draw the heart of the people to themselves instead of drawing them to God, their Creator! Instead of building the people in God and in their callings, they use the people to build monuments, towers and empires for themselves. My friend, are you one of them? Jesus said, “The good shepherd gives his life for the sheep” (John 10:11). Did you hear that? Listen! The depth of love is known by the degree of giving – give your life, gifts, talents, treasures. The Bible says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). What an amazing love, the type that God require from us today. My friend, if you want to exhibit the nature of Jesus; you must forget about yourself and live for God and others because that was exactly what He came to this world to do. There is no point professing your faith in God or professing to be a Christian if you don’t love God and love people as yourself. Speaking about Jesus, the Bible says, “For the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve and to give His life as a ransom for many” (Mark 10:45) My friend, do you love people like God? Listen! God measures us, not by our degree, wealth, gifts, skills or talents; but by our love. Here is the standard by which we are all measured: Love is very patient and kind, never jealous or envious, not boastful or proud, never haughty or selfish or rude. Love does not demand its own way. Love is not irritable or touchy. It does not hold grudges and will hardly even notice when others do it wrong. It keeps no record of when it has been wronged. It is never glad about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. My friend, if you truly love someone, you’ll faithful to him or her, no matter what the cost or the sacrifice. The issue of betrayal, cheating and unfaithfulness will never occur. You will always believe in him or her, always expects the best of him or her and always stand your ground in defending him or her. The question of stealing what belongs to him or her will never happen. You’ll not manipulate or intimidate the person you love to get what you want. You’ll not kill him or her for you to live, to take his position or to inherit what belongs to him or her…the list goes on. Love never gives up, never loses fait but always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance. Love will last forever, but prophecy and speaking in unknown languages and special knowledge will all disappear. My friend, what is your divine assignment on earth? Of all the ways you’ve ever tried to fulfill it, the manifestation of love in you is the one that comes with a guarantee of success, for, it is a more excellent way. When everything else you have tried has failed, remember that true and covenant love never fades or fails.” (1 Cor 13:4-8). It is a convenient or conditional love that fails, covenant and unconditional love never fails. True love is permanent and everlasting! Jesus said, “…love each other as I have loved you.” (John 15:12). Let God, who is love, show you the excellent way to love Him and love others!
