A member representing Girei, Yola South and Yola North Federal Constituency in Adamawa State, Rep Aishatu Dahiru Ahmad Binani has donated 240 tricycles to women "to reduce raging poverty." She also donated 52,000 school bags to public school pupils in what she described as an effort to improve educational standard in her constituency. While flagging-off the distribution, Speaker of House of Representative Aminu Waziri Tambuwal challenged lawmakers to embark on constituency projects that have direct bearing on the people they represent. Tambuwal noted that lawmakers are essentially to represent their constituency by enacting laws, but also have a great role to play in providing dividend of democracy. He commended the lawmaker for the initiative towards empowering women folk and other vulnerable groups in the society. Speaking earlier, Minister of Education for Education Mr Nyesom Wike said the government is committed to improving the ailing educational sector by increasing budgetary allocations to the sector and charged lawmakers to step up budgets for basic education.
