THEY FOUND WHAT????? While excavating to put in the sewer and water lines to the Visitor Center this week, workers at the site uncovered the foundation of the original milkhouse, which was demolished in the 1940s. The state hospital must have taken down the building but just covered up the old foundation. Because it is located exactly where a copse of nine flowering cherries will be planted, it will be necessary for us to have the foundation removed, at a cost of $4,000. Although we have been able to capitalize on the old silo foundation that was unearthed, turning it into a conversation pit as part of the outdoor stairway, there is nothing we can do with this but remove it. Sigh!
