After Red Sox closer Calvin Schraldi retired Wally Backman & Keith Hernandez with two outs on nobody on base Gary Carter & Kevin Mitchell starter the rally with a pair of singles then Mets third baseman Ray Knight drove 0-2 pitch for a RBI single scoring Carter to make the game 5-4 Red Sox then Red Sox manager John McNamara bought in Bob Stanley to face Mookie Wilson then Stanley thew a 2-2 wild pitch scoring Mitchell to tie the game then a few pitches later Wilson hit a ground ball to Sox first baseman Bill Buckner scoring Ray Knight from second base scoring and the Mets won an improbable 6-5 win to send this anticlamatic series to a Game 7.
