THIS DAY IN ARKANSAS WEATHER HISTORY... 1845-An early severe cold wave gripped the state, with the temperature falling to -6 at Washington, 0 at Fort Smith, and 10 at Batesville. 1873-The low temperature at Mount Ida only fell to 62 degrees. 1876-Highs in most areas were in the 30s. Monticello only reached 31 degrees. 1877-The temperature fell to 10 degrees at Mount Ida. 1883-Temperatures were mostly in the 70s. Fort Smith reached 78, with 76 at Mount Ida and 74 at Little Rock. 1896-Lows in most areas were in the teens and 20s, except for 9 degrees at Rogers. 1950-Most highs were in the 70s. Grannis hit 81 degrees. 1973-Highs were mostly in the 70s. 2006-One to three inches of snow fell in the northwest. However, Green Forest recorded 6.0 inches.
