THIS IS BULLSHIT!!!!!! Now that I have your attention. From a non-native perspective, I feel that I have no right as a white person to speak on native issues. I feel that is not my right as a white person to speak for Native Americans, Its not my place to say, “oh thats not offensive” or “you should just get over it.” Because who I am I to tell another group of people on how they should feel about a specific issue pertaining to them? As a human being I feel for these people or any person for that matter who is suffering on any level. It is out of human decency and integrity that I feel this way, not out of pity. I do care about the people who are suffering and I’m going to help the best way I can rather than trying to feed the fire of hate and discrimination. We white people as a culture never have taken anything seriously except for war, god, and football. To this day we continue to look down on other people and there is proof. The proof I have is our ability to quickly tell a group of people to chill out when we say something offensive and not take anything serious. Why is it that we as a people can easily say something offensive or do anything offensive then quickly tell the ethnic group its targeted toward that its not racist or offensive to their face? How can we be so confident that we can continue to get away with this? Or is it that not many of us white people give it any thought? Just something to think about FLC.
