We have German shepherds waiting for homes right now. We are also looking for those special people who are able to foster a dog while we look for a forever home. We use kennels as a last choice. The rescue covers any medical requirements the dogs may need whilst in foster care, this can & does include spaying and neutering, vaccinations, flee and worming treatments. The rescue also covers the veterinary costs for our long term foster German Shepherds that frankly nobody else wants, our team of specialist foster careers unselfishly look after our sick, old and very needy dogs that depend completely on their careers and the rescue support. We all know veterinary treatment is never cheap and unlike owners they cant get pet insurance to cover the huge bills they pay covering illnesses such as cancer and tumor operations, pain relief and joint care Long term foster dogs are often old sick or have a degenerative disease or illness, nobody wants these dogs and so they never get rehomed, they will live their lives out under rescue care and the careful and caring eye of their foster parents. Veterinary treatment plays a huge part in rescue and can amount to some shocking bills. Apart from our foster and long term sick or senior dogs we also cover all our kennel dogs, imagine paying vet bills for forty or fifty dogs. When another abused sick or ill-treated animal comes into our rescue its always a time to worry about how we are going to cover these expenses, we often have to beg for donations from our social media groups to help individual cases. The rescue would like to be in a position where they could offer treatment to any rescue dog and take in more special case dogs but at the moment they have to spend their pennies wisely and sparingly. By setting up a monthly subscription or direct debit the rescue can plan ahead and offer more dogs help knowing they have this regular income in place. This helps the rescue secure more kennel spaces and places the rescue in a position where they can help cover more medical costs and save needier German shepherd dogs and puppies throughout the UK. Every penny really does help! Kenneling is one of the main expenses of rescue donations, they serve both as a place of security and overflow space when our foster homes are full. Sadly kenneling space is needed almost every week for emergency dogs that are due to be put to sleep either by their owners who simply don’t want them anymore, Stray dogs that have served their seven day collection time and for the neglected, beaten and abused cases. Kenneling space is simply a safe place for dogs in the eyes of many rescues, dogs often don’t portray well and suffer from boredom leading to stress. The UK German Shepherd Rescue is very different as we are lucky enough to have a dedicated kennel facility that takes every dog that comes into our care under their wing, All of our dogs are treated like their dogs and enjoy their stay while being boarded.
