THIS IS MY FAVORITE INTERVIEW EVER! Paige Taggart interviewing Paige Taggart in The Nervous Breakdown: Paige: Is the voice in your poems more Apollonian or Dionysian? Paige: Definitely Dionysian, I would say my poems thrive on chaos and an intoxicated sensibility. I demand a lushness of sorts, and want to extract emotions from an overarching human experience aside from just my own; hopefully, forming a bond between others and myself. The poem when alive may take a position of logic and reason, it is usually only temporarily, in order to mock nature, then just maybe it will slip back into the irrational to dissolve. I get exhausted by the assumption that “I” means I when most of the time it’s just a tangential expressway to deliver an authoritative idea, that assumes a position of vulnerability. It may seed itself in the reader from a more affirmative source, and therefore sway you lovingly.
