THIS IS THE FIRST CHAPTER FROM MY STORY S-S-S-Stutter! PLEASE DO NOT HATE ON ME, I WORKED HARD ON THIS OMF: The sun was shining brightly, although it had seemed that it was dimmer than it usually was. The day already seemed off, typically the sun would shine brighter, and it seemed like it wasnt it the right spot. Those are the kinds of thoughts that Alyssa Sedwick, although she prefers to go by Aly, goes through. Aly stared out of her bedroom window for minutes on end, debating wether or not she was going to pretend to be sick. She knew that itd spoil her perfect attendence record, but she also knew that going through another day of bullying was already going to be the death of her. As tempting as it seemed, Aly knew that her mother was going to make her go to the horrid jail she called high school. Without thinking about it, she threw on a sweater and jogged down the staircase of her two-story home. Ready for school, Aly? Her mother asked her, smiling sweetly as she tiredly put down two eggs on her daughters plate. Aly smiled in return at her mom, nodding her head. She didnt want to talk this morning, she already knew itd take her almost a full minute to complete her sentence, why try? Sweetie, I know its hard for you -but please, talk to me. Her mom, Dolly, knew how hard it was for her daughter. Shes been with Aly through this for years, 17 to be exact. I d-d-d-o-o-n-n-n-t-t-t w-a-n-n-n-t t-o-o-o, Aly spoke, attempting to make her words come out like her mothers would. She frowned when she figured out that she had stuttered. Dolly sighed, You gotta leave for school soon. Eat quickly, honey. Aly nodded her head slowly, eating as fast as she could manage. Although she knew that going to school was going to ruin her, she knew that to get a better education she had to. Oh, and dont forget you have to go to work! Dolly reminded her daughter of it quickly while kissing her forehead, ushering her out of the house. Aly looked down as she walked to school, unable to think about what could happen during this day. There are endless possibilites. Someone could hit her, someone could tease her more than usual, and even more that she didnt want to think of. Within minutes she was at her high school, walking into the red doors. She looked around, lowering her head down in hope that no one would bully her today. She walked to her first class, taking her books out of her backpack. Hello, Alyssa. Her teacher, Mr. Williamson greeted. Aly gave him a small smile, happy that at least some person in this school was actually nice to her. It seemed that only Mr. Williamson and some of the other teachers would be nice to her, except for her reading teachers, Ms. Limpon. As everyone filed into the classroom, Mr. Williamson announced that Ms. Limpon was going to come into the period, combined with her reading class, and teach reading. Alys eyes went wide, unable to believe the luck she has gotten so far. This cannot be happening, Aly thought to herself. I want everyone to pull out a scratch sheet of paper. On that paper, write a brief explanation about the last book you had read. After that, I will choose three of you to read what you wrote. Try not to take the whole hour. Ms. Lampon said, eyeing Aly. Aly flushed and looked down, writing neatly on her sheet of paper. Most recently, she read the book called The Hunger Games. She bit her lip as she wrote: Most recently, I have read the book The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. This story is about a girl named Katniss Everdeen. Shes 16 years old in this book. Its set in a dystopian universe where there is this thing called the Hunger Games, where 24 kids by the ages of 12-18 are chosen. Two from each distrct, therefor there are 12 districts. Everyone stop, Ms. Lampon said. Alyssa, read first. Alys eyes went wide once again, B-b-b-u-u-u-t-t- No ifs, ands or buts. Ms. Lampon snapped, narrowing her eyes at Aly. Aly sighed, M-m-m-o-o-o-s-s-s-t r-e-e-e-c-e-n-n-n-t-l-l-l-y-y, I-I h-h-h-a-a-a-a-a-v-v-v-e-e-e- She couldnt continue, too many students in the classroom were laughing at her. She closed her eyes tightly, hoping to hide the tears that were forming. She knew that if she continued, she would be laughed at even more, but if she didnt continue, Ms. Lampon would yell at her. Aly opened her eyes and rose out of her chair, slamming it into her desk. She ran out of the room, running quickly into the girls bathroom. Unwillingly, she cried. She wanted to be strong, she knew that this bullying was going to end soon, but she still couldnt help but cry. No matter how hard she tried, she could only cry her heart out. W-w-w-w-h-h-a-t d-d-d-i-i-i-d-d I-I d-d-d-o-o-o t-t-t-o-o-o d-e-e-s-s-e-e-r-r-r-v-e-e t-t-t-t-h-h-h-h-i-i-i-s-s-s-s? She asked herself, sobbing quietly to herself.
