THIS MORNING ON CNN Reliable Sources T-minus two days til the midterm elections... and there doesnt seem to be a whole lot of enthusiasm. Studies have documented a lack of public interest in the midterms AND a lack of media attention. (Chicken/egg...) Former Senator Alan K. Simpson has some theories about WHY, so Ill ask him about this Media Research Center study (bit.ly/1DKqPtc) accusing the networks of a blackout and about the deluge of negative ads. Also on the subject of the Ad Wars-- I have some opinions to share about how TV stations benefit from all the $$$ spending. A veteran ad-maker, Fred Davis, and a local station boss, Dale Woods, will react. But were going to start the show with another story -- a storm involving The Weather Channel. John Coleman, who co-founded the channel back in the 80s but hasnt been associated with it in 30 years, has been outspoken about climate change, calling it a hoax and suggesting its a conspiracy. He recently appeared on Fox News -- spurring The Weather Channel to reiterate that it DOES believe climate change is happening. (Here: weather/encyclopedia/global/) Both Coleman and the CEO of the channel, David Kenny, will join me. Also this morning: why American coverage of the Ebola epidemic has one anchor in a fury, with CNNs Isha Sesay in Nigeria... ...and Glenn Greenwald on a new documentary about Edward Snowden and a mysterious second source. Oh, and Ill be giving Nik Wallenda and his Skyscraper Live tightrope walk a shout-out. Tune in! 11 a.m. ET, CNN.
