THIS WEEKENDS WRITTEN FORECAST: Well, as I expected, Friday - TopicsExpress

THIS WEEKENDS WRITTEN FORECAST: Well, as I expected, Friday afternoon and evening was really the highlight. As I bought my end-of-day bargain burgers, the guy at the counter told me that half the world had decided to have a barbecue. The top temperature at the airport was 13°C, whilst the top temperature in town was over 15°. The difference was due to the wind direction. Town was in the lea, and the airport was at the top of a gentle windward slope. This morning, there is less variation around Guernsey. A gentle south-southeasterly breeze, along with an unbroken sheet of low cloud, has kept everywhere between 10 and 11°C since the middle of the night. SATURDAY: The rest of the day is only going to change slightly from the current situation. The cloud is only 200 above the airport, so occasional light drizzle is highly likely in that area this morning. The visibility is currently good. It may occasionally turn a little misty, but we should escape without any disruptive fog. This afternoon, there should be some much brighter periods, when the sun just about penetrates the cloud. I expect that our max temperature will be about 13°C. The north and west coasts should be best for bike rides and walks etc. These coasts should also be best for a smooth ride on a kayak or an S.U.P. Tiny clean waves will also be good for our junior surfers, down at Vazon. There is a slim risk of a shower this evening, but it will most probably stay dry until the small hours of Sunday morning, when the wind will veer to the south-southwest. SUNDAY: There will be some long dry spells but these will be very cloudy, possibly with hill fog. There will also be some lengthy spells of rain, with fresh to strong south-southwesterly winds. NEXT WEEK: The weather on Monday will simply be a continuation of Sundays. Tuesday should be dry and sunny but, with a chilly west-northwesterly breeze. The rest of the week should be fairly calm and settled. The air will be inherently rather cool, but it should be dry and fairly cloudless. So, although max temperatures might only be 12 or 13°C in the shade, it should feel lovely and warm in the sunshine.
