Geophysics Team Leader - Quantitative Interpretation NES Global Talent - Perth Area, Australia Job Description: The Company: Our client is a leading subsurface Service Company providing geoscience services to the Oil & gas sector. They are currently looking to recruit an experienced Geophysicist to lead a Quantitative Interpretation (QI) team delivering and managing high quality QI services to the global oil and gas industry. The role: The successful candidate will lead a team of circa 10 individuals across two office locations and take responsibility for the team’s delivery of the following: Deliver QI service projects or significant portions thereof Manage the projects effectively, reporting results objectively within scheduled timelines Undertake and manage or assist with other Quantitative Interpretation work as required Knowledge-sharing/ mentoring in Quantitative Interpretation with QI Team Members and the larger internal community Develop and maintain networks and relationships with clients in areas of QI technology Desired Skills & Experience: Relevant experience: Applicants should hold a Masters Degree in a geoscience discipline (PhD preferred) and have significant experience of QI analysis at regional and prospect level. A good understanding of the Exploration & Production industry within Oil & Gas is essential as is the ability to lead and motivate a technical team. There is a requirement for this individual to be client facing and as such a high level of communication skills (written and verbal) are imperative. Other areas of experience should include: Strong experience in amplitude and AVA assessment (qualitative and quantitative), forward modeling and calibration, volume interpretation and volume AVA analysis, fluid contact and DHI analysis. A working knowledge of rock physics methods and workflows for exploration, reservoir characterization, and reservoir monitoring (4D A working knowledge of velocity model building and time-to-depth calibration, wavelet extraction and well-to-seismic tie. A working knowledge of seismic inversion (including band-limited, absolute impedance, simultaneous AVA inversion, model-based inversion, geostatistical inversion). Some knowledge of integration of 3D and 4D seismic into static and dynamic models. Good geologic and petrophysical background. The capability to challenge existing models / interpretations and to suggest new workflows. Familiar with seismic acquisition, processing and interpretation concepts with respect to the implications for QI. Project Management skills. Good knowledge of QI capability available in the marketplace.
