THOU SHALL NOT CHEAT!!! FOUR ARRESTED OVER FAKE ECO BANK CHEQUE IN KK Four people have been netted in Nkhotakota for trying to cheat a shop owner with a fake Eco Bank Cheque of K1250, 000.00 million. The suspects Juli Manda 37 and Flose Khuwi 30 women and Kefasi Mwalwari 41 and Willy Kanyenda men, were apprehended at Nkhotakota boma as they were trying to buy Airtime with a fake Cheque amounting to K1250,000.00 Million. On the afternoon of July 29, 2014 police received a tip from Airtel officials that they [Airtel officials] are following four people, traveling in a Toyota Corolla Saloon registration number CZ 2234 who are suspected to be thieves using a fake Eco Bank Cheque. They described the suspects as two men in black suits attire and two women, whom they said have managed to cheat using fake Eco Bank Cheque in Mchinji and Balaka and now heading towards Nkhotakota. This prompted the police instantly; organize an operation headed by the Crime Station Officer Senior Superintendent Jailos Dacoster. Luckily, at about 13:00 hours in the afternoon the suspects arrived at Nkhotakota boma. They stopped and headed straight in J.H Enterprises Wholesaler and Retailer shop owned by Ainani abusinessman at Nkhotakota boma to accomplish their intended mission. Soon after entering the shop, one suspect asked for Airtime quotation from the shopkeeper Yusufu James of TNM and Airtel Airtime of K500,000 and K750,000 respectively totaling to K1250, 000.00. As the shopkeeper was preparing the quotation, the suspects went outside. The shopkeeper Yusufu James got suspicious of the development he informed his brother Ainani who owns the shop who nearby. Few minutes later, two women bounced back in the shop and one woman produced an Eco Bank Cheque from her handbag. But then, police in civilian were already there and instantly arrested them including two gentlemen who were left outside waiting in a car. They were later taken to Nkhotakota police station. Upon searched at police station the suspects were found with Airtel Airtime worthy K146, 000.00 and TNM worthy K63, 000.00 which is suspected to have been stolen through deceiving shop owners with fake cheque. The suspects Juli Manda 37, is from traditional authority (T/A) Mwabulawo in Mzimba district, while Fulose Khuwi 30 is coming from Matapila village, traditional authority (T/A) Mazengera in Lilongwe, Kefasi Mwalwari 41 of village Mwambuli, traditional authority (T/A) Kilipula in Karonga district. And lastly is Willy Kanyenda who hails from Mulowe village, traditional authority (T/A) Mwamulowe in Rumphi district. The four are expected to face justice on a cheating charge against section 321 of the penal code as soon as police finalize their investigations at Nkhotakota Magistrate court.
