THREE BIG EVENTS COMING UP THIS WEEK: ONE: Tuesday, December 3rd: 4 pm to 6 pm up at the basement of the UM Church: Final Popcorn Turn in. Please folks, if you have money to turn in for your popcorn sale, please get that to us on Tuesday. While you are there, please pick up your scouts pinewood derby car. TWO: This week, we are building our float for the Christmas Parade! Originally, we were scheduled to build the float on Thursday, but we have to move it to Friday. Please mark that change on your calendar. SO, FRIDAY, December 6th: 6 pm, we are building our Christmas float out by our den leader Lewis Williams house. We will meet at his neighbors garage (Paula Crim) at 10 Bullock Lane. Parents and scouts, plan on coming out, dressing warm, and spending some time deocorating the float. I can tell you from experience, the kids really love making the float. We will have cookies and hot cocoa, a fire, and a good time for everybody. Many leaders will make this meeting their regular den meeting. LEADERS: Please contact your dens and communicate to them the things you will be needing your group to help make. I believe Anthony Jones and Ryan Fairchild are bringing their trailers. Our theme for the float is Holiday Hayride. Anthony Jones is bringing the hay bales as well. One leader, I cant remember who, I think Laura, is going to make homemade ornaments. One leaders talked about getting candy canes to decorate our tree on the float. I think Mike Rushing said he would supply the tree and tree stand. I need other leaders to volunteer to bring construction papers for paper rings, and to pop popcorn and bring the needle and thread to string popcorn on the tree and float. I will need other leaders to bring some small to medium empty boxes and some wrapping paper to wrap presents for the tree. Well need clear tape, duct tape. Mike Rushing, well need to get cookies and make cocoa. So, ALL LEADERS, PLEASE RESPOND BACK TO ME AND TELL ME THE PARTS YOU AND YOUR DENS ARE BRINGING. If I missed anything, please fill me in. Please get back with me, and Ill see you on Friday! The overall theme for the parade is Americana Christmas, so I would like to keep our colors red, white and blue! FINALLY, THREE: Saturday, December 7th: Christmas Parade! We will meet at Washington Park across from the Library, by the playground equipment. Scouts, you MUST be up at the park by 12:15. The float will be there at approximately noon. The parade will begin at 12:45. It may be cold or wet weather, so please dress accordingly. I need all scouts in uniform or in their pack tee shirts, but if you need to put a long sleeve under it, or a coat over it, that is okay! Gloves and hats may be a necessity. I need all leaders in uniform. Parents, please wear your pack tee shirts if you have them! The youngest kids ride on the float. Please bring a blanket they can sit on on the hay bales, and if its cold, make it big enough they can wrap up in. Also, parents, it is UP TO YOU to bring a bag of sealed candy they can throw to the parade bystanders. So, if you want your scout to throw candy, PLEASE bring a bag of candy too. The next oldest scouts can ride on our second trailer, but there wont be hay bales on that trailer. That trailer is for convenience for the scouts. Please make sure your scout brings a blanket to sit on. The oldest scouts will walk. All parents are invited to walk with the pack. The Webelos II will walk with the banner in front of the lead truck. At the end of the parade, will gather at the Sav-A-Lot parking lot across from the fire house for parents to pick up their scouts. Please make every effort to get there as soon as possible after the parade to retrieve your child. Thanks again, everybody! We are in for a very exciting week! MARK YOUR CALENDARS! On a separate note, I wish to recognize that so many of our scouts and families have given their time, effort, and money to help with the Brookport clean up, and to provide material support for those families in need. A special note to the Burrus family who lost a family member and property to the storm: Your scout family is here for you. Also, so many scouts and families have given support to the Bates family in their time of tragedy. Please keep these families in your prayers. Roger Cubmaster, Pack 101
