THROWBACK THURSDAY I fondly recall and treasure an unforgettable and incredible experience ... reliving the golden days of aviation aboard a 1941 Waco UPF-7 Bi-Plane which was located at Tom Reillys Flying Tigers Warbird Aviation Museum in Kissemmee, FL (April 4, 1990). This was my very first flight on such a classic bi-plane ... and it was awesome! The airspace flight zone regulations must have been different in those years, because we were allowed to fly over Walt Disney Worlds former attraction Treasure Island (later renamed Discovery Island) which was located in the middle of their Bay Lake hotel resort area (Orlando, FL 1974-1999). During the flight our pilot performed barrel-rolls and other such classic barnstorming maneuvers ... we patrolled the skies and even buzz-bombed Treasure Island. It was INCREDIBLE and well-worth the fee (only $100 for an hour long flight). The Warbird Museum also featured many other classic aircraft for public display which were either the property of Reillys collection, or being meticulously restored by other private owners. Thankfully, we never encountered the notorious Red Baron! 1) My Certificate of Flight 2) Another passenger and I are posed beside the Waco Bi-Plane 3) The Waco in-waiting (a beautifully restored aircraft)
