THROWBACK THURSDAYS 2001 - My first ever big concert in Syria - TopicsExpress

THROWBACK THURSDAYS 2001 - My first ever big concert in Syria back with my old rap crew Immortal Assassinz (I know, its a terrible crew name) with Rami Zeino, Simon Belian, Steve Stefan Amer, Alex Amer, and Mike Al. You can see my chubby old self rocking an old Philadelphia 76ers of Jerry Stackhouse, who is actually retired now. Coming into the NBA Stackhouse was considered an up and coming talent compared to Jordan, and I bought into the hype. Stack finished with no championship rings and his main accolades is beating the crap up of Jeff Hornacek, Manu Ginobli, Christian Leattner, and his team mate Allen Iverson to name a few. So i stick to my choice of jersey. As you can see, typical 90s Hip Hop wardrobe: US sports jerseys, baggie pants and fitted caps. This show was in the Russian wing of the International Exhibition Hall of Damascus. What would be equivalent to the Forum in Beirut. I remember preparing beats downloading loops and samples off an internet cafe in the Shaalan area of Damascus, transporting the files through a Zip-Drive (google that if u dont know what it is) because CD burners werent so popular in cafes then. Took me a ncie 3 days of downloading things and about $15 dollars in internet bill, (750 S.P. back then was not pocket change). Young, hopeful and definitely lacking experience, this was a super fun concert. Looking back, I wish I performed much more in Syria. Hopefully I can make that happen in the near future.
