THUNDERSTORM RISK AND GENERAL FORECAST: Today Sunday is the first - TopicsExpress

THUNDERSTORM RISK AND GENERAL FORECAST: Today Sunday is the first day in over two weeks where there is the realistic chance of rain across the region. Early morning cloud is likely to burn off in many places which will allow hazy sunshine to develop widely.Top temperatures across the region today are likely to be between 24 and 27 degrees in rather humid conditions. During the late afternoon and evening there is the chance that an area of isolated thunderstorms currently developing over St Georges Channel may push northwards through Leinster. Where these storms occur there is likely to be very heavy rain in a short period of time. Overnight there is the continuing risk of a few isolated thunderstorms over the area in mainly light southeasterly breezes. Monday,Tuesday,Wednesday and Thursday: The weather for the remainder of the week is likely to dominated by an area of low pressure which will be pumping up very moist and unstable air across the region. This unstable air mass when heated overland by the extremely high temperatures which we have experienced over the past two weeks the is almost certain to result in widespread thunderstorm activity. Monday begins dry, bright with hazy sunshine in many parts in just very light breezes. However as the day continues convective clouds and showers are likely to become more widespread with the possibility of some thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening. Tuesday looks like also beginning dry bright and with hazy sunshine. This in turn is set to be replaced by increasing high cloud from the south west. This increasing cloud is related to an occluded front which looks as though it may produce some severe thunderstorm activity right across the region. Wednesday and Thursday will both begin dry bright and warm, however cloud will develop rapidly during the morning with thunderstorms again developing over the region through the afternoon and evening. Temperatures during the week will have fallen back from the extreme temperatures of the last couple of days. Highest temperatures on Monday and Tuesday are likely to reach between 23 and 26 degrees, while on Wednesday and Thursday temperatures will reach between 22 and 24 degrees. Stay tuned for updates throughout the day on what is a developing situation by the minute. If any of you would like a specific forecast for a particular event or time then feel free to comment below. Enjoy the weekend weather wherever you are across the county and region. Regards Cathal.
