TIME SENSITIVE and LENGHTY POST: First of all, please Like and Share this post. The more people that do that, the more this will propogate across Facebook. Earlier today there was a posting of a GoFundMe campaign to help get a PHSC Marching Tiger to go on this years Fiesta Bowl trip. This campaign was started by students who learned of their peers need. It was a kind and selfless act that is representative of the band members today and in the past. They didnt want to leave someone thats been with them all season behind when they go on this trip. The good news is that this students trip was fully funded in a matter of hours with the help of alumni. The troubling news is that Ive learned that there remains a total of six students that have the same need. These are all students who are current on their band dues and who have made an effort with their parents to get their trips paid for. Unfortunately, due to a number reasons these six have not been able to pay the full amount, which is $1,500 per student. At this point, the cumulative total needed to fund these six remaining students is $7,500 (some have been able to pay a portion of the $1,500). Ive added $500 to help cover the costs of this campaign (credit card fees), but 100% of the net amount will go towards getting these kids to the Fiesta Bowl. Heres whats important. Tomorrow, Monday, Nov. 24, is the deadline for the commitment to go on the trip. The money is due by Friday, Nov. 29. These are absolute deadlines. Therefore we have to act FAST to get this done. I know that the alumni can do this. We funded the first student in a few hours. We essentialy have 24 hours to fund the remaining six. PLEASE HELP MAKE THIS HAPPEN. Even if you arent an alumni of the band, but want to help for whatever reason, PLEASE DO. These are good kids and for the juniors and seniors this will be their last opportunity to travel with the band in HS. Its also everyones last opportunity to travel with Mr. Sewell as he is retiring at the end of this school year. There is another fundraiser in the works, but there is no guarantee it will be pulled off or raise the necessary money. Lets make this happen so these kids will know by tomorrow night that their trip is secured. If the full amount isnt raised by the end of business on Monday, it will go toward the kids on the basis of seniority. You can have an opinion if this is fair or not, but at this point its the way its likely going to work. Please dont make a decision on whether to give or how much based on this. IF WE CAN FULLY FUND THIS CAMPAIGN, THIS IS IRRELEVANT. Please consider giving. Even if its only $10, with the number of us that there are it will make a HUGE difference.
