TIME TO RANT: Because KHOU has a hot reporter, she dons cute little workout clothes and works out with the Houston Texans cheerleaders on a feature about the cheerleaders today. This bugs me. Working out with them makes the story about her, not them. It provides no real insight into the story because its just another woman the audience gets to watch joining the workout. Shes not going behind enemy lines, shes not getting The Scoop. Shes showing off her muscles on TV when shes supposed to be reporting the news. I see this more and more in TV these days - its a cheap ratings trick designed to endear the reporters to the audience and does absolutely nothing for the value of the story. Its disrespectful to the thinking audience because they assume I want to watch her sashaying about in short shorts and a tank top and giggling about what its like to work out with professional cheerleaders, when WHO CARES?! GOD IT BUGS ME. This is the kind of thing that sets back female reporters who have been trying for decades to be taken seriously in this job. Ladies, please get out from in front of the camera and see if you can investigate what you did with your self respect. (reporter is on left)
