CBI, which accused Kumar Mangalam Birla and former coal secretary P C Parakh for irregularity in allocation of coal block, has told the court that its investigation showed that Hindalco was given the coalmine in the larger interest of the country. The CBI, echoing former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, also justified the support by Odisha Government for the allocation of Talabria coalmine.
