TIP OF THE DAY: Its usually a good idea to warm up before you race. Arrive at the race at least an hour early, which will give you plenty of time to pick up your race packet and go to the toilet. Jog an easy mile to get your heart pumping, then do some stretching and relax. I realize this is not easy advice to follow in races with 30,000 or more runners requiring staging for more time than you might like.In smaller races, if new to racing, line up near the back so as not to get in the way of faster runners.
