TIP OF THE WEEK - OUTDOOR PLAY Most children love to play outside. You can go out in any weather as long as you have appropriate clothing! Playing outdoors can help a child’s physical development and promotes a healthy lifestyle of fresh air and exercise. Children are healthier playing outdoors on a cold day, wrapped up warm, than watching TV in a hot room. Some children enjoy the freedom that being outside brings – being able to run, jump, climb and balance. Try and encourage your child to take safe risks such as rolling down a hill or balancing on a low wall, holding your hand. If you don’t have a garden, go to a park, wood, farm, zoo, river or the seaside. Or book time in our outdoor area on 01384 812325. Enjoy being outside with your child and be enthusiastic! Ideas for outside play: • Have picnics • Make dens • Find sticks, stones leaves and feathers • Splash in puddles • Mix mud pies • Have races • Look for minibeasts • Dig in the soil • Make daisy chains • Play with a ball or kite
