(TITC) – In the framework of the program “Vietnamese Tourism and Culture Festival 2014″ in South Korea, on 17 September 2014, a roadshow was held in Seoul to introduce Viet Nam’s tourism potential especially golf tourism to the South Korean public. Attending the roadshow were Vietnamese Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Mr. Hoang Tuan Anh; Vietnamese Ambassador to South Korea, Mr. Pham Huu Chi; General Director of Korea Tourism Organization (KTO); representatives of tourism businesses and media agencies. According to Minister Hoang Tuan Anh, Viet Nam is an attractive destination with rich and diverse culture; friendly and hospitable people; special and diverse cuisine and developed system of hotels, restaurants, hi-end resorts, world-class golf courses… which would promisingly become a paradise for South Korean tourists. Tourists can benefit from frequent direct flights between Viet Nam and South Korea which connect Seoul, Busan and Ha Noi, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang with Vietnam Airlines, Korean Air, Asiana Airlines and Vietjet Air operating the direct flights. Viet Nam applies a policy of 15-day visa exemption for South Korean tourists visiting Viet Nam and 30-day visa exemption for those visiting Phu Quoc. Besides, South Korean arrivals to Viet Nam can easily connect to attractive destinations such as Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar and other countries in ASEAN. Viet Nam’s tourism sector has regularly coordinated with Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) and the relevant authorities to organize promotional activities such as cultural festivals, roadshows in South Korea and welcoming famtrips, presstrips from South Korea to survey Viet Nam. Thanks to strengthened cooperation between the two sides, in the recent years, South Korea has become the second largest market of Viet Nam tourism with rapid growth of arrivals. The number of tourists increased from 450,000 arrivals in 2008 to 700,000 arrivals in 2012, up by 12% each year. In the first 8 months of 2014, Viet Nam welcomed 549,541 South Korean arrivals, increasing by 9% over the same period last year. Minister Hoang Tuan Anh believed that the roadshow would be a chance to connect Vietnamese and South Korean travel agencies; foster the exchange of tourists and consolidate relationships between the two countries.
