Our objective remains simply the same, that we all get home safely each day. After all, driving is likely the single biggest risk we face every day and there is never one safety reminder too many. To kick off, did you know that there are three (3) sources of distraction for a driver when using his mobile phone whilst driving, even if it is on a hands-free? Visual Distraction - because your eyes are fixed on the device rather than on the road. Manual Distraction - because one hand (even both!) is on the device instead of the steering wheel. Cognitive Distraction - because operating the device diverts your attention away from the driving task. In fact on that last point, one study by the UK-based Transport Research Laboratory using a driving simulator, has found out that : - Hands-free mobile phone conversation slows reaction times by 26.5% - Texting slows reaction times by 37.4%!
