TNFF 2014 Call for Submissions Deadline: Friday November 15, 2013 Toronto Nepali Film Festival (TNFF) is now accepting entries for the 5th annual festival to be held on March 22, 2014 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The festival’s goal is to promote Nepali filmmaking and create a platform for the exchange of dialogue between filmmakers and the audience. TNFF is a not for profit community organization based in Toronto. The annual film festival screens films that are made in or on Nepal. Filmmakers of all races, background, nationality, and gender are encouraged to submit films and it is open to all genres of films, including fiction, documentary, animation, shorts, experimental and musical. TNFF also celebrates films based on many indigenous languages such as Limbu, Maithili, Newari, and Gurung etc. The festival encourages participation of women filmmakers and filmmakers from marginalized groups. All films screened at the Festival will receive an honorarium. Eligibility • Films that pertain to Nepal and/or Nepalis • Films must have subtitles in English. Selection Criteria: The curatorial committee will select films based on merit and the content of the films. The committee will consider relevant Nepali issues and narratives, methods of storytelling, new genres in the context of Nepali filmmaking, technical finesse, and other attributes of filmmaking in the jury process. The committee will also take into consideration TNFF’s mandate of inclusion of indigenous languages and filmmakers from marginalized groups. Selection Process: A three-member jury team will be announced in October 2013. The jury will select the films from the submission pool. TNFF’s curatorial committee will review all the submissions by December 2013. All filmmakers will be notified via email upon completion of the selection process. The official selection of the films will be announced on TNFF website. Instructions for Submission: • Email completed Call for Submission Form to [email protected]. • Subject line should read the name of film and director’s name. • Mail two copies of DVD, PAL or NTSC - Please ensure to label all the media with your name, title of the work, and date of production. • Secure online screener links are also acceptable but not encouraged. If submitting an online screener, please be prepared to ship a DVD copy upon request directly to the address in Canada. • If you are submitting more than one film, each entry must have a separate entry form.
