TO ALL SURVIVORS of HUMAN TRAFFICKING - THIS IS FOR YOU: I apologize for the lengthy post however I felt this was relevant to do so.... As part of Multnomah County CSEC Committe, I am forwarding this on behalf of OVC (Office of Victims of Crime): The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of Justice Programs (OJP), Office for Victims of Crime (OVC) would like to invite SURVIVORS of human trafficking to submit Statements of Interest to participate in the Human Trafficking Survivor Forum on January 30, 2014, in Washington, D.C. The purpose of the Forum is to hear from survivors on effective, strategic, and meaningful ways to engage survivors and incorporate their perspectives in federal anti-human trafficking initiatives. The vision is to create a platform for sustained engagement and dialogue between the Federal Government’s anti-human trafficking efforts, in order to create and maintain a victim-centered approach. The Forum will be held in collaboration with the Department of Health and Human Services’ Administration for Children and Families (HHS ACF), the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the Department of State’s Trafficking In Persons Office (J/TIP), and other Department of Justice components including the Executive Office for U.S. Attorneys (EOUSA), Office on Tribal Justice (OTJ), and the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS). Human trafficking survivors across the Nation are invited to submit Statements of Interest for participation in the Forum. As space is limited, 15 to 20 survivors of human trafficking will be selected to participate in the 1-day Forum. It is important to involve a broad array of individuals with geographic, gender, and experiential diversity whose voices will help to ensure that the broad array of trafficking survivors is well represented. OVC will work to engage all interested survivors in our efforts. Those who cannot attend the Forum will be invited to remain involved through future opportunities. For those who receive an invitation to participate in the Forum, time and travel costs for attendance, including airfare, ground transportation, lodging, meals, and incidentals will be covered up to the maximum allowable amount set forth by the Department of Justice. To express your interest in participating in the Survivor Forum, please complete the attached Statement of Interest Form and e-mail it to [email protected] or fax it to 703–225–2338. You may also complete the form online by going to: https://surveymonkey/s/survivorforum. Survivors may complete the Statements of Interest individually or with the assistance of organizations, caregivers, friends, or family members. Statements of Interest are due September 16, 2013. Please forward this e-mail to those who may be interested in participating. If you have any questions or need additional information, please e-mail [email protected] or call 1–866–682–8880.
