TO BE DESTROYED - 07/12/13 Manhattan (A0970873) ¸.•*¨*•☆ STRATFORD ¸.•*¨*•☆ Too old, too worn, too broken.. this is not the way Stratford thought his senior years would end.. alone and unloved :"( Stratford, the 8 year old 21 lb Minituare Poodle mix is in serious trouble and needs some serious help. It’s a bit unclear as to whether he was found as a stray in the Bronx or whether he was really turned in by an owner who couldn’t handle Stratford’s medical issues. What is clear is that Stratford has medical issues that need some immediate attention. He has bad teeth, a heart murmur, fatty tumor on his head, and may have very limited vision. And of course, after a couple of days at the overcrowded Manhattan ACC, he’s no doubt picked up any one of the myriad of diseases that are ever present and his breathing has become very labored. ACC’s answer to Stratford’s needs is to put him on tomorrow morning’s euthanasia list. So now Stratford is in a real fight for his life. Things to consider though…Stratford’s only 8—not ancient in the small dog world. He is described as friendly despite obviously feeling really bad. His “finder” says he’s fine with other dogs; walks nicely on a leash, and overall is friendly to humans. So right now what Stratford needs is emergency vet care—perhaps being admitted to a vet hospital. For that, a rescue will need pledges toward the cost of what will likely be a steep bill. Then Stratford needs someone to step up and offer to foster or adopt him once he’s ready to leave the vets. Anyone who feels that Stratford really deserves better than to end his life under these awful conditions needs to immediately apply to a host of New Hope rescues to be approved for foster and or adoption. All this needs to happen tonight—pledge, foster or adopt, share, share and share some more.
