Brought in to Brooklyn ACC as a stray, Wendy has found it difficult to adjust to being in a cage 24x7, rarely getting out, having to deal with a host of strangers, of noises, of smells—all those things that frighten a dog who knows what fear is. So ACC has put Wendy on tomorrow’s euthanasia list and made her New Hope only. But read her behavioral eval carefully—he froze and growled when they tried to “position” her but never tried to bite. She did absolutely nothing when that hand took her food away and when that strange dog came into the room, she softly and gently approached the dog. So what we likely have here is a scared dog, a dog who has no idea what’s expected of her in this shelter situation, and a dog who likely hasn’t been shown too much kindness in the past. If you think you can show her the life she should have had along, start applying to rescues to foster or adopt her. But do it now—ACC has already written her off.
