TO BE IS TO DO - TO DO IS TO BE It took me long enough to figure out that being a Christian is a matter of doing as Christ taught. Shaking my head in approval during sermons is not enough. Knowing and agreeing with what the Bible says is not enough. Praying is not enough. That would be like being a spectator at a national championship ballgame, while expecting to receive a winner’s ring. If I am a Christian, I must then be a Christian, and not merely give lip service to Christianity, but do as Christ taught. Ouch. But if I do it, it will get easier all the time, as when one walks in the Spirit, the Spirit proves a mighty source of strength. I do not know why it took me so long to figure out that we must actually do as Christ taught in order to be approved. (I never claimed to be a genius.) But I am glad that He used the right way to get my attention. Now I still have a long way to go, but I am glad that He pushed me in the right direction.
